Janis T. Foley

Longtime Chelsea resident, she passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning in the Whidden Memorial Hospital Emergency Dept.  She was 53 years of age.  Beloved daughter of Joyce Alajajian of South Boston and the late Theodore Finochio. She was born in Boston and grew up in Jamaica Plain and South Boston. As a young girl she attended Boston Schools.  Throughout her life she became a dear friend to all who knew her.  She held various jobs but was proudest of her time spent working at Industrial Park in Southie as a direct mail sorter and collator.  She would delight in sharing stories of her time working there during the blizzard of 78’.  She and her husband made Chelsea their home for the past 18 years.  She was a member of the St Luke’s Community and volunteer helper and she also frequented Center House in Boston.  She truly loved and held dearly all she came to know during her life.

Visiting hours will be held at the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home 718 Broadway CHELSEA on Sunday April 22nd from 2-4 PM.  Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend.  A prayer service will be led by Rev. Edgar Gutierrez in the Funeral Home at 3:30 PM.  Funeral Home fully handicap accessible, ample parking opposite Funeral Home.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 18 years, Joseph Lee Foley of Chelsea. Her dear sisters; Diane Finochio-Aiello of Woburn, Nancy Finochio-Finigan of Hull, Susan Finochio-Wilson of RI, Deborah Tracy Shields of Randolph and Leah Tracy Crosta of Quincy. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the Center House, 31 Bowker St., Boston, MA 02114.
